Former Governor Mike Huckabee, God, Sandy Hook Elementary School, 20 Angels, and 6 Saints.

The first sentence below is from the Huffington Post today – the remaining comments are my response to Mr. Huckabee’s senseless, insensitive comments.

“Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee said today that the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut was no surprise because we have “systematically removed God” from public schools.”

I strongly disagree.  God was there to give the principal, the school psychologist and the teachers the collective strength to stand up to the shooter – to either confront the shooter, to hide students or to secure some students in corners to prevent them from being added to the carnage.

I take my hat off to these women who put their lives on the line for the safety of the children who were placed in their hands on a daily basis.

God is everywhere – including schools and other public places.  Just because prayer is not said in public schools does not mean that God is not looking out for us – yes, Mr. Huckabee, even in public schools.

I cannot explain why God permitted this gunman to take all the lives of these children and educators  – all I know is that it could have been a lot worse.

If these six brave women did not act in a totally selfless manner, the death count could have easily doubled or tripled.

If the 20 kids who died are Angels then these 6 women are Saints.
